It is not difficult to draw Henna or Mehndi patterns. Henna /Mehndi patterns can be created starting with simple elements. Once you learn the elements, you can create complex and beautiful mehndi designs.

As a beginner, start practising the patterns on a paper. Use a pencil or pen in the beginning which can be replace with a mehndi cone later.
1) The fishbone pattern
Draw straight lines at different angles.
Draw rows of slanting lines as shown above.
Draw rows of slanting lines as shown above.

Draw the slanting line in up-down manner. Just the way you draw a mountain.
Keep exploring by adding more lines.
Try to make the pattern more complex.
Now you can further increase the complexity by adding more filler lies.
Now repeat the technique with horizontal and vertical lines.
The slanting lines are fillers. They can be used to fill designs and make them appear complex. Now draw any shape and try to fill it with slanting lines as shown above.
